World Cup Brickell Block Party

The City of Miami and Miami-Dade County have just announced that there will be a block party to watch the FIFA World Cup Finals right here in Downtown Miami!

Did you know that South Florida could potentially host a final match and the draw, if the United States is successful in its bid for the World Cup in 2018 or 2022? That is correct! The US has prepared and submitted a 1,250 page bid in Zurich, Switzerland, to host the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup (the 2014 Cup will be played in Brazil)… and Miami is one of the 18 US cities named to help host the world’s largest sporting event!

The event will take place in the Brickell area, centered at SZE Brickell 1421 Miami Avenue on July 11th starting at Noon, with the game scheduled for 2:30pm. Make sure you tell all your south florida friends to come and join the celebration to support our city’s bid to host the World Cup in 2018. For the event, Mayor Tomas Regalado announced that the Financial District Metromover Station will be renamed “World Cup Station” on July 11th to make it easy for residents to leave their car at home, take the free Metromover and comfortably join the celebration right here, at the heart of the Magic City! Also, please go ahead and support our city by signing the petition to host the 2018 World Cup!
