SZE BRICKELL THOUSANDS CELEBRATE WORLD CUP FINAL
Thousands celebrated at the City of Miami’s Official World Cup Block Party
and
Free Concert for the Spain vs. Netherlands World Cup Final
Miami-Dade Commissioner Jose ‘Pepe’ Diaz and City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado hosted the Official City of Miami World Cup Block party presented and produced by Segafredo Brickell on Sunday, July 11th, which attracted an estimated 15,000 soccer fans that celebrated until the sun came down. The event was a collective effort between the City of Miami and Segafredo Brickell that took place outside of Segafredo Brickell on S. Miami Avenue between S.E. 13th St. and S.E. 14th Terr. There was a massive stage set-up with LED screens for party-goers to watch the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Title Match between the Netherlands and Spain as well as plentiful food and drinks.
The free concert, which was emceed by Jessica Sutta from the Pussycat Dolls, began at noon with performances by child prodigy Ethan Bortnick, flamenco troupe Estrella Morena, international recording artist Nuriya, , Miami-based fusion band Suenalo, and international superstar DJ Cedric Gervais. Celebrities such as Cristian Castro also joined in on the fun.
Major networks that included CBS and NBC were present and Univision and ABC/ESPN transmitted the event via satellite to Johannesburg and broadcasted it live with their nationwide coverage.
The Official World Cup Block Party and Free Concert was a success in demonstrating Miami’s true passion for soccer and proving that the city will be a fabulous host if chosen for the 2018/2022 games.
